VOAD
The Dallas Area Red Cross is an active member, across our 12 county service delivery area, with several local organizations known as Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) or Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD). These VOAD/COAD's have membership representation from many local, state and national organizations.
The Dallas County VOAD is one of the original founding official VOAD organizations in the State of Texas. The Dallas County VOAD is part of the National VOAD program.
Organizations gain membership in the Dallas County VOAD by qualification: 1) must meet 501 (c)3 non-profit qualifications 2) must have active and maintain human and material resources for emergency response to all-hazards disasters. Some city and county emergency management officials participate in our meetings as "affiliate" members, but have no voting authority or official VOAD role otherwise.

Each VOAD meets independent of each other, and together as a regional meeting once a year. Each VOAD/COAD meets regularly to discuss current activities within each member organization, review planned upcoming events, emergency management exercises, and many other topics related to disaster response, disaster recovery, and emergency management.
