Ready When The Time Comes

Ready When the Time Comes, a corporate volunteer program, taps the human resources of corporate America. The American Red Cross trains employees and members from partnering companies and community and faith-based organizations, and mobilizes them as a community-based volunteer force when disaster strikes.

As North Texas' disaster relief organization, we are called upon to assist members of our community at a moment's notice when disaster strikes.  Last year, we assisted 3,300 people that were affected by local disasters.  Nationally, the Red Cross responds to more than 70,000 disasters each year. When the big disasters occur like Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav and Ike, the Dallas Area Chapter will be there to help those affected. Your employees and members could be one of our volunteers that helps us manage our response.

How Does RWTC Work?

After a partnership has been established with an organization, the Dallas Area Chapter will train participating employees. Employees will be given information on our various volunteer roles so they can determine their area of focus. Once training is completed, the Dallas Area Chapter will activate your employees when specific disaster relief services such as call center management or shelter operations are needed. As a participating organizations, you commit to making these employees available for service at least one day per year; however, all assignments are voluntary.

Who Makes a Good Partner?

  1. Large and small companies
  2. Community organizations
  3. Churches
  4. Schools
  5. Universities
  6. Groups of Retirees
  7. Any organization interested in giving back to their community!

The Dallas Area Chapter is called upon to assist any individual and community in our 12-county service area in times of disaster.  With your participation and support, you ensure that we are able to successfully respond and assist at any time during a large scale disaster.
