Employee of the Quarter - Pam Johnson

Pam always goes the extra mile to either get the job done or to please clients, coworkers and volunteers. Just recently, she had previously scheduled an out of town family event, but decided to stay and assist with an unusual shelter request from the city of Dallas. The Disaster Mental Health team required the guidance from her extensive experience and connections with partner affiliates. In addition, she also organized the Emergency Response and Recovery picnic. She planned activities for adults and children, created the menu, and stayed from early morning to early evening at Curtis Park to make sure all had a great time.
Pam's dedication to the American Red Cross is admirable. The Disaster Mental Health (DMH) and Health Services (HS) teams have benefited from a professional and respectful relationship. Our DMH team has been supported with eagerness and enthusiasm. She continually demonstrates a determined responsibility to recognize and honor the unique needs and contributions from HS, DMH leadership and team members. One example of this is that she sends personal thank you cards to volunteers after each response.
Overall, Pam truly has a "Change A Life" attitude. She has been able to meet unusual individual clients’ needs through her ability to foster cooperative working relationships. This includes funeral assistance and crisis housing assistance for family members while a client was recovering from injuries after a fire. When there was a need for blood after the Waco shooting, she organized a blood drive with her church. She then worked with military bases to organize blood drives.
Pam has always gone above and beyond job responsibilities to help her fellow co-workers by picking up additional cases to assisting and organizing and facilitating events. Pam has unselfishly given up many of her weekends to the call of duty for many multi-family fires, blood drives and military events. She is always around to give a hand. Pam strives to ensure volunteers are placed in the program of their choice and that they are happy being there. Pam's affection and continued respect for staff and volunteers is contagious.
